UP Director General of Police Vijay Kumar on Friday held a video conference meeting with police teams of different districts and senior police officers, and gave them directives regarding speedy trials in cases of serious nature.

Kumar instructed officials to ensure that the investigation is completed within a time-bound manner and to ensure that charges are framed in the court in time and that the trial concludes within 30 days in serious cases.

Cases of robbery, crimes against women, illegal conversion, cow slaughter, and other serious cases must be monitored by senior officers.

“Probes in such cases must be concluded in a time-bound manner…. Senior officers posted at the DGP headquarters will monitor these cases,” Kumar ordered.

Kumar told officials that a centralised portal, which will be monitored by top officers in Lucknow, is being launched in the coming week. “The portal will monitor probes and trails in important cases and also keep an eye on cases which are deemed worthy of appeal,” he said.
