Indian cricketer Ekta Bisht is in an upbeat mood ahead of the Australian challenge. Besides a satisfactory form,a job with the North Central Railway at Kanpur have been a moral booster for her. She took the joining in January 21 this year. The left-arm-spinner adds up to her utility in the team because of her fielding skills which she “polishes by playing football for at least half-an-hour daily.”Talking to The Indian Express,Ekta said,“I am satisfied with my current form and hope to do well in the ODI home series against Australia starting from March 12. I am content with my performances during the recently concluded tour of West Indies. I am satisfied with my efforts in the twenty20 matches there while as far as the ODIs were concerned, barring the last match,I took three wickets each in the first two ODIs.”

Regarding the challenge against the Aussies, the 26-year-old said,“ I have played just one match against Australia. No doubt the Australians are a good side. I will take one match at a time and would be giving by best against the visitors. The Indian team is also quite strong.” With the job in the Railways,Bisht now does not have to worry about hopping from Almora (Uttarakhand),her birth place where her family resides,to Uttar Pradesh,to give the cricket trials. “ Though I have been representing Uttar Pradesh since 2006,I had to travel from Almora for the trials ahead of the domestic tournaments. After getting a job in the Railways through the sports quota now I aim to reside in Kanpur itself,” she further added. Seeing the boys play in her locality, she started playing cricket at a tender age of four or five with the other children and is proud of her choice of sport today. “When I grew up,renowned cricketer Neetu David proved to be a source of inspiration for me because of which I took up the game seriously. I owe a lot to my coach Liaqat Ali Khan who taught me the finer points of the game. My father KS Bisht and mother Tara Bisht were also all very supportive.”
