Going gets tough for new entrants in Youth Congress

The organisational structure of the state Youth Congress is likely to be finalised in the next few days. From the 200-odd people who had participated in the talent hunt held last month,about 40 names have been short-listed.

Each of those selected will be assigned a task and their names are being discussed separately. Tasks are being assigned to each of them as per their ability and interest,said Pankaj Tiwari,president of the central zone of the Youth Congress. “After a long discussion,we have come to the conclusion that each of the selected office bearers will be given 90 days time to prove themselves. Otherwise,they will be replaced by those who are in waiting,” he added.

“We have been told that the Youth Congress will play an important role in party’s strategy to regain its ground in the Assembly elections. These people could well be tested in the Assembly by-elections that are likely to take place within two to three months. Moreover,setting up targets will also make them accountable,” said a Youth Congress leader.

Earlier,the district committees were to be finalised simultaneously with the state body. But now,following recommendation by the zonal presidents to form committees at the district level,at present,only the state body of the youth wing will be finalised.
