HC seeks report on steps taken to curb eve-teasing

The Allahabad High Court on Thursday directed the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP),Allahabad,to apprise the court about actions taken by the police to effectively prevent eve-teasing in the district.

The court passed the direction while hearing a PIL filed by an organisation,Stree Mukti Sangathan. The petition seeks directions from the court to the police for taking specific steps in curbing such incidents and has also demanded constitution of a committee comprising eminent persons from different walks of life at the district level to take effective steps for curbing the menace. Hearing the PIL,a division bench of Acting Chief Justice Amitava Lala and Justice PKS Baghel issued the directions in this regard and fixed October 4 as the next date of hearing.
