Bonus before Diwali for govt staff,teachers
This year,UP government employees,teachers of the government-run and aided schools (basic and high schools) and intermediate colleges will get the bonus before Diwali. The cabinet on Friday approved the proposal for the payment of bonus. The decision will benefit close to 15 lakh state employees and teachers and will entail an additional burden of Rs 506 crore on the state exchequer. The order for the payment of bonus is likely to be issued on October 30,after the model code of conduct for the panchayat polls come to an end. As per the cabinet decision,the cap on bonus amount will be Rs 3,500. Half of the bonus amount will be paid in cash with the salary of October and the rest will be deposited in the provident fund account of the employees and teachers.

BEd counselling from October 25
The third round of BEd counselling will be held between October 25 and 30 in the state. The government instructed the Lucknow University authorities on Friday to conduct counselling at Lucknow Centre,said Special Secretary (Higher Education) V K Gupta. According to a State Information department press release,counselling will be conducted for 3,471 seats.

Woman sets self,two children ablaze
A woman set ablaze two of her children before immolating herself following a tiff with her husband in Tarkulwa area of Deoria district on Friday. The woman and the children were admitted to the hospital where they succumbed to their burn injuries. The Station Officer (SO) of Tarkulwa police station,Ravindra Kumar,said Sunita (32) of Khutaha Patkhauli village had an altercation with her husband Ram Autar Gupta over some family matter last night. After Gupta left the house,Sunita set herself ablaze along with her two daughters — one three-year-old and another six-month-old. The locals rushed them to the district hospital where they died.
