Man linked to Siras attempts self-immolation
LUCKNOW: Rickshaw-puller Irfan, with whom Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Reader Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras was reportedly found involved in sexual relations and was covered in a sting operation by a television channel, sustained burn injuries when he allegedly tried to immolate himself at his residence in Aligarhs Kwarsi area early on Friday. Irfan was rushed to the hospital by his family members and doctors discharged him on Saturday after his condition became stable.
The police denied that Irfan took the step due to pressure mounted by them. We have come to know Irfan took such a step for two reasons. The first was his severe financial crisis and the other was his weak physical condition. He was called to the police station around 20 days ago for questioning, said Aligarh Additional Superintendent of Police Man Singh Chauhan.
He added that Irfan sustained 20 per cent burn injuries on the back. On April 7 Siras, who had been suspended by AMU after he was filmed by a spy camera having consensual sex with a man in his bedroom, was found dead in his private rented house.
