Lucknow University Vice-Chancellor Professor Ajaib Singh Brar, who took charge in January 2008,is set to leave mid-term to join Guru Nanak Dev University in Punjab as its new Vice-Chancellor.
Ending his one-and-a-half-year term at LU on a sad note,Brar said financial crunch, indiscipline and unnecessary pressures from all ends made it difficult for him to implement many of his innovative plans for the University. I will be joining a university, which is well quipped, disciplined, does not suffer financial crunch and is orderly. It does not suffer any problems caused either by students or employees union. I will get a better chance to put my plans at work there, said Brar, who had earlier served in Guru Nanak Dev University as a lecturer for six years. He said a letter from GND University reached him around 6 pm on Thursday and he is likely to join the
University within the next two weeks.
I tried my level best to get funds from the state government. I tried to explain to them the need to have better infrastructure and better laboratories, but to no avail, said the former professor of IIT-Delhi about his LU stint.
Be it students, employees or teachers,I have faced resistance while bringing change, said Brar, adding that he would be handing over his resignation letter within a day or two.
