Man beaten to death for protesting eve teasing of daughter,three held

As per a complaint lodged by the girl’s uncle at Katghar police station,Idrees,who used to run a restaurant,had gone to the accused’s house Thursday to complain against Idrees who used to pass lewd comments at his daughter,a class 10 student.

However,Meraj,his four brothers,their father and uncle started assaulting Idrees with iron rods and sticks. He alleged that some other family members of the girl were also assaulted. “Idrees sustained injuries in the clash,after which he was taken to a hospital in Meerut,where he passed away during medical treatment Friday night,” Katghar circle officer Mohammed Imran said.

He said Thursday both families lodged complaints against each other alleging assault. The girl’s uncle’s complaint was converted into an FIR on Saturday he said.

ASP said,Meraj along with his two brothers Mumtaz(28) and Imtiaz (25),were arrested and cases of eve teasing and murder have been registered. —With PTI
