Man shoots brother dead following argument, held

Giving details, Station Officer (Lanka), Ramesh Yadav said Shyamji confessed to have killed his brother, Ajay Patel (28).
“During interrogation, the accused broke down and said he has destroyed both the families. The only motive behind the murder was his feeling of humiliation at the hands of his brother, who had slapped him many times before his wife and kids,” the police officer said.

The officer added that the pistol had been at their home for the past two years and it was the accused who had taken it away from his brother citing that it was not safe to keep it in the house.

“Nearly two years ago, Shyamji had found the pistol in Ajay’s possession and had admonished him for keeping such things. Shyamji took it from his brother but did throw it away. Along with the pistol, he also hid a single cartridge in the house. On the night of January 19, after a fight between the two, Shyamji, overtaken by anger, decided to eliminate his brother,” Yadav said.

According to the police, Shyamji took his wife and children to his in-laws’ place in Karmajitpur next morning. He then returned and shot his brother dead around 8 am.

Shyamji and Ajay used to work in the same saree factory, where the accused was the driver, while his brother did the task of printing. However, Ajay was removed from the job a year ago.

On January 19, Ajay had gone to meet the factory owner to reinstate him. However, the owner got angry when he walked into his cabin with his shoes on. He rebuked him and also took the matter up with Shyamji. The brothers fought on the issue in the evening, during which
Ajay slapped Shyamji several times. They had fought a few days ago as well. Ajay had slapped him many times following an argument, the police said.
