Rahul has a vision for 2012: Victory in state Assembly polls

With an aim to revive the Grand Old Party in the Hindi heartland,AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi espoused his “Vision 2012” for the state party unit.

Addressing a meeting of the UP Congress executive,Rahul told them to take the Lok Sabha elections as the semi-final,and start preparing for the final,which will be the Assembly elections slated for 2012.

“This election is just the semi-final for Uttar Pradesh. We have to prepare for the final. I am sure that if we work hard,then we will have our government in the state in the finals,” said Rahul.

An executive member said Rahul had shared his Vision 2012 with some party workers in the past,but this was the first time he spoke to the entire executive about it.

During this recent meeting in New Delhi with the four Youth Congress zonal presidents of Uttar Pradesh,Rahul had spoken about his Vision 2012 and had asked them to start working for it.

“We are forming our organisation in such a manner that it will benefit us in the Vidhan Sabha elections,” Rahul said.

The meeting was held at an engineering college in Mohanlalganj area after UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi filed her nomination papers for the Rae Bareily constituency.

Sonia asked party workers to remember that “party comes first and then comes the individual. You should all forget the differences and ensure the victory of each and every Congress candidate.”

During her recent visit to Purvanchal region,she said that she had seen an enthusiasm among people for the Congress and it was now the job of Congressmen to turn this enthusiasm into votes.
