Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Saturday asked the party cadres to gear up for the decisive battle of 2012 Assembly elections.
SP chief said poll results of 2012 elections would also decide the outcome of the elections of Lok Sabha due in 2014. Yadav, who was in a combative mood, also indicated that SP could launch a statewide agitation against the BSP from the next month.
Addressing a meeting of the party state executive here Mulayam Singh urged the party cadres to take a firm resolve to win the 2012 Assembly elections as the ruling BSP,he said, has become unpopular with all sections of the society and was on its way out.
You mark my words that the SP will form the next government in UP after 2012 Assembly elections. Only the SP can provide the credible alternative government we have the courage to challenge the misrule of the corrupt and autocratic regime of the Mayawati-led BSP government, said Yadav adding the workers and leaders of the SP had to face the rein of terror let loose by the state government.
Yadav, however, sought to underline the failures of the party. Despite the Commonwealth Games,2G Spectrum and Adarsh Housing Society scandals,we failed to run a sustained movement against the anti-people policies of both the Congress-led UPA government at the Center and the BSP regime in UP.
Cautioning the party cadres against the complacency,Yadav said, It is a common perception that the BSP regime will be voted out in 2012 Assembly elections but people dont seems to be enthusiastic saying the SP will replace the present government. He urged the party workers to turn the tide in SPs favour.
The SP is absent from the agenda of the public discourse because the rank and file of the party is badly divided and your energy is devoted more on settling scores rather then strengthening the party organisation at the grass-root level, he said.
Expressing satisfaction at the partys performance in the recently concluded panchayat elections,Yadav said the real challenge is to protect the elected members of the district panchayatss from the inducements being offered by the ruling party and get the party candidates elected as chairmen of district panchayats and block pramukhs.
