Two held for beating up taekwondo players in train

Two monthly season ticket holders have been arrested by the Railway police for their alleged involvement in beating up the players of Jharkhand taekwondo team in Moori Express on Saturday.

Two monthly season ticket (MST) holders have been arrested by the Railway police for their alleged involvement in beating up the players of Jharkhand taekwondo team in Moori Express on Saturday. The incident had occurred on Thursday.

According to Inspector (GRP,Allahabad),Lakhan Singh,the arrested persons have been identified as Om Prakash Mishra and Ritesh Gaur,both residents of Naini. “They were arrested at Naini in the evening and further interrogations are on. Efforts are on to identify and nab others involved in the incident,” said Singh. More arrests were likely by late night.

The police is said to have identified five persons and raids were being carried out to nab them. A few persons have also reportedly been detained.

The DIG (Railways),Vijay Pratap Singh,said the accused would be booked under attempt to murder,apart from other relevant sections related to causing grievous injuries. Out of the six members of the Jharkhand’s taekwondo team,one member – Surya Prakash – had to be admitted to Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital. However,he was later discharged. The DIG said the charge to attempt to murder was being added in order to send a strong message among the hoodlums.
