As many as five people have died of suspected gastroenteritis in the last two days in the city outskirts,while 23 others are under treatment in different hospitals.
Among the dead are two children aged four and five years. Sooraj (4) and Sandeep (5) lived in Sampooran Ka Vehra in Luxmi Nagar near Sherpur.
Bharat Yadav,Mahesh and Mahender Thakur breathed their last at Mohan Dai Cancer Hospital.
District Epidemiologist Dr G P Mangala said: We are yet to confirm the cause of these deaths as the medical reports not yet available. Of the 23 sick patients,eight are admitted in Oswal Hospital,six at Vardan Hospital,three at Arora Hospital,three at Balaji Hospital and three at Lama Hospital.
Dr Mangala added,The major cause of spread of gastroenteritis is worst sanitary conditions in these areas,where people hardly bother about hygiene.
