Defence Minister A K Antony has promised to set up a committee to look into the rationalisation of the security standards around the ammunition depot at Badhowal for facilitating smooth and hassle-free development in the surrounding villages.
He has also assured to sort out the issue of one rank one pension at the earliest besides bringing parity in the pension of the emergency commissioned officers during the wars of 1962 and 1964.
Giving this information here on Sunday,Ludhiana MP and national spokesperson of the Congress Manish Tewari said these assurances were given by the Defence Minister in Delhi on Saturday when he led a delegation of ex-servicemen to meet him.
Antony told the delegation that the Centre was seriously considering the issue of one rank one pension for the ex-servicemen and hoped the issue would be resolved at the earliest.
The Defence Minister promised that the issue of disparities in the pension of those ex-servicemen who were commissioned in the Army on an emergency basis during the wars of 1962 and 1964 would also be taken up.
