On the second day of PAU kisan mela,a flash mob of youngsters hit the university campus on Thursday. Supported by NGO Sukrit Trust,the youth focused on the importance of work culture to wean away society,particularly the rural youth,from drug abuse and depression. Underlining the need to read books,the group propagated the theme readers are leaders. A book Asal Vidya,authored by noted scholar,psychiatrist and former director of PGIMER Dr Jaswant Singh Neki,was gifted to the visiting farmers. The students banners related to promotion of work culture with slogans such as work is the best panacea for all ills,work is the best antidote to depression,work is more fun than fun,and work hard,work smart. Jaswinder Kumar,from Jaito,Faridkot,a second year student of MSc Agronomy,said this exercise had infused self-confidence in the students. MBA student Gursewak Singh said in the age of GDP,we often forget the importance of happiness. We need to focus now on Gross Domestic Happiness (GDH) as well, he added.
