Twelve jhuggis removed
The Tehbazari branch of the Municipal Corporation on Saturday removed jhuggis from the Ferozepur Road near Hotel A. More than 12 jhuggis were demolished. The area was cleared by the team,but the nearby shopkeepers have stressed the MC authorities to develop a green belt at the site so that the area is not encroached upon again. Even in the past,efforts have were taken but failed miserably because jhuggi dwellers came back.

Two-day convention for CA students kicks off
The Ludhiana Branch of NIRC of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India on Saturday organised the first day of two-day state-level Punjab State Convention of CA Students at KVM Senior Secondary School,Civil Lines. Prof R C Sobti,Vice-Chancellor of Panjab University,Chandigarh,was the Chief Guest while Dr Jitendra Kumar Jain,DIG,Punjab Police and Manpreet Singh Chhatwal were the guests of honour.

Yoga classes and teachers’ workshop end
An eleven-day yoga camp conducted by the members of Patanjali Yoga Peeth and Bharat Swabhiman Trust concluded on Saturday with instructions from Krishan Lal Gupta (state president,Patanjali Yoga Trust). During the first session of the last day’s teachers’ seminar,Ashok Sharma from Vishaw Yoga Sanstha guided teachers on good eating habits and during the second session,Dr Khushwinder Kumar,Principal,BCM College of Education,talked to the teachers on Continuos Comprehensive Evaluation System.

‘Hike in MSP of paddy is a joke for the farmers’
Rs 50 hike in the MSP of paddy is a cruel joke,the Chief Minister has asked for more hike. This was stated by patron of Youth Akali Dal Bikramjit Singh Majithia while addressing mediapersons yesterday afternoon at Guru Singh Sabha Senior Secondary School. He added,“The members of rural and urban Youth Akali Dal of Ludhiana district will be appointed once the Sukhbir Badal comes back. “ Further he denied any differences between the members of the rural and urban Akali Dal members. He,however,added,“Differences,if any,will be sorted out soon.”
