Industrialists seek change in syllabi of ITI,polytechnic courses
The city industrialists on Tuesday demanded that all ITIs and polytechnic colleges should impart training as per the requirement of the industry. They demanded this while holding a meeting with Suresh Kumar,Principal Secretary,Technical Education and Industrial Training,Punjab at ITI,Gill Road on Tuesday.
The industrialists said the course curriculum being taught in ITIs should be as per the need of the industry so that the students may get jobs after passing out. Listening to the demands of industrialists,Suresh Kumar asked all the industrialists to help the training institutes in infrastructure,better training and in other activities.
PAU launches programmes for matriculate studentsThe eligibility for B Sc agriculture is matriculation or equivalent with at least 60 per cent marks in aggregate in compulsory subjects. The eligibility for B Sc home science and two-year certificate course in agriculture is matriculation or equivalent with at least 45 per cent marks in aggregate. No entrance test will held for these courses and admission will be based on marks obtained in matriculation and interview. The last date for receipt of applications for these programmes is June 18 (without late fee) and June 25 (with late fee of Rs 1,000). The prospectus and application forms can be obtained on any working day from the office of the Additional Director of Communication,Centre for Communication and International Linkages,PAU,Ludhiana,on payment of Rs 1,000 in cash at the sale counter or by post sending the bank draft for Rs 1,065 in favour of Additional Director of Communication.
BCM students visit Tiger Safari
To mark the International Day for Biological Biodiversity,as many as 37 students from the BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School visited the tiger safari under the leadership of Environment Manager Vipra Kale on Tuesday. Students were given areas to clean and thereafter,they visited the medicinal plants garden and Chetna Kendra. The students also gifted some paintings related to the environment to the Forest department. School principal Paramjit Kaur said the purpose of the visit was to share with students all aspects of nature and importance of environmental responsibility.
NSS camp concludes
The seven-day NSS camp at the Devki Devi jain Memorial College for Women concluded on Tuesday. On the last day,volunteers planted saplings in the college campus. Nand Kumar Jain,president of the College Managing Committee,encouraged students to do selfless service. Surinder Khurana,the officiating principal,who was the chief guest on the occasion,asked students to be career conscious and financially independent. Programme officers Anupam Gupta and Nisha appreciated the volunteers. ens
