Rich tributes were paid to Harjit Kaur Kahlon,wife of Col Harbant Singh Kalon (Vr C),president Atma Raksha Sangh,at a Shardhanjaly Samaroh organised for the bhog and antim ardas at Gurdwara Sarabha Nagar here on Sunday. Serving and former Army officers,persons from trade and industry,pensioners,political,educational institutes were present in large number.

PSEB schools still without books
The academic session of the Punjab School Education Board,Mohali,started from April 1 but books for some subjects are not available till date. According to the teachers,The books are still not available and we have no clue by what time will we get them. Shashi Sharma,principal of Everest Model Senior Secondary School,Moti Nagar,The Hindi books Class V,English books for Class XI,book of cutting and tailoring for Class X and for agriculture Class X,Hindi medium,are not available. A government school teacher said,Every year the board takes 2-3 months to issue books. This also affects the results of the students. The Scheduled Caste students who have taken admission in Class IX and XI are yet to get the books even though the first semester will end in September. The board should evolve some method so that all the books of all classes are delivered at one time and that too in the first week of the new academic session. Chairman of Punjab School Education Board D S Dhillon could not be contacted for comments.
