Man found murdered, accused on the run

The accused had invited his friend to his room in factory and allegedly murdered him.

A man was found murdered with a sharp-edged weapon in a factory in Kot Mangal Singh Nagar on Monday.

The body was found in the room of one Prem Chand, who hails from Bihar, and works in Kot Mangal Singh factory.

The accused fled after leaving the body in his rented accommodation above the factory in Kot Mangal Singh area of Daba. The police are yet to identify the body but a case with murder charges has been registered against Prem Chand who is yet to be arrested.

During the preliminary investigation, the police came to know that the accused had invited his friend to his room in the factory and allegedly murdered him.

On Monday morning, owner of the factory Jagdeep Singh saw the body when he came there to call the workers.

On being informed, a team of senior police officers, led by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (city-2) Jasdev Singh Sidhu, Assistant Commissioner of Police (South) Rupinder Kaur Saran and Inspector Jatinder Kumar, SHO at Daba police station, reached the spot and initiated investigation.

According to available information, Prem Chand had started living in a rented accommodation above the factory of Jagdeep Singh around 20 days ago. On Sunday evening, the accused invited his friends to his room and all of them consumed liquor. Later, Prem Chand allegedly murdered the victim by slitting his neck with a sharp-edged weapon and mutilated the body before fleeing.

The police suspected old rivalry behind the incident and sent the body to the Civil Hospital.

To arrest the accused the police formed various teams and also sent one team to Bihar.
