A wrong operation by surgeons of a private hospital located at Jodhewal basti has cost 35-year-old Mahinderpal dear. His stomach has protruded out after repeated operations and he also lost his job due to complications of the operation. Mahinderpal today met health minister Satpal Gosain along with a deputation of Universal Human Rights Organisation ( UHRO) and showed his condition. Gosain told the patient to come to Chandigarh and said he will show his condition to the director health services and other senior officials and later after the findings of senior doctors,he will take action against the guilty doctors. Mahinderpal said that 2007,he went to private doctors after he caught dengue fever and was told to get an urgent operation done to cure some infection in his stomach. He said,I agreed for the same but my stomach came out after the operation and to rectify the same,the doctors conducted 2 more operations later on and now are saying will conduct 4th operation. I approached the UHRO for help. So far I have spent more than Rs 1.5 lakh on medical expenses and my problem has only aggravated. Mahinderpal used to work as a driver. He lost the job due to complications post-operation. He said,Though I am able to walk properly,my stomach size is a big hurdle for me in day to day activities. My wife is also suffering from cancer and I have 4 kids to take care of. Mahinderpal stays in a small house in Jodhewal basti. Satnam Dhaliwal,who is from UHRO,said,Now I have decided to donate some money to the family on a monthly basis but his condition is grave,we appealed to the health minister to get his operation done free of cost from a major hospital and also to punish the surgeon.
