PAU inks deal to keep wheat crop disease in check

To check the incidence of Phalaris Minor (gulli danda) on wheat crop,the Department of Agronomy of Punjab Agricultural University inked a memorandum of understanding with Modern Insecticide Limited,Ludhiana.

To check the incidence of Phalaris Minor (gulli danda) on wheat crop,the Department of Agronomy of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Modern Insecticide Limited (MIL),Ludhiana. Baldev Singh Dhillon,Punjab Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor and Surinder Singh Kunar,patron,signed the MoU. The project will be valid for two years. With the continuous use of the same group of herbicides,particularly,post-emergence group,it has been observed that in some parts of Punjab,the crops have developed a resistance to Phalaris Minor. To overcome this problem,Punjab will be divided into two zones,field demonstrations will be held in all the districts and farmers will be educated.
