After getting stuck in traffic on Muktsar Road for about 10 minutes near a railway crossing in Jalalabad,Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday announced that the next SAD Government will ensure that flyovers are constructed over all railway crossings across the constituency.
Sukhbir was in the city to accept an honour by rice sheller Ashok Grover when his cavalcade got stuck in traffic. He had to walk down to reach the rice shellers place.
While starting his campaign for the January 30 polls from Jalalabad on Thursday, the deputy chief minister held road shows in about 17 villages of the constituency. When I contested the Jalalabad bypolls,I was not very keen on contesting from this seat and preferred Majitha. Later,it was suggested that I choose Jalalabad and received more than 80,000 votes. This time,I am sure that the figure will cross one lakh, he said.
Earlier,I had added facilities in this constituency according to my wishes. Now,the demands of the residents will be fulfilled one by one. I will make Jalalabad equivalent to Chandigarh, Sukhbir added.
Saying that as he will not be able to visit the constituency too frequently because he has to visit in all the 117 constituencies of the state,Sukhbir asked his supporters to campaign on his behalf. My family will be here only, but everyone should campaign for me in my absence, he added.
Asked who will contest from Gidderbaha,he said: Let it be a suspense for now. Everything will be clear in a day or two.
