Ludhiana MP and the national spokesperson of the Indian National Congress Manish Tewari is currently attending the India-Yale Parliamentary Leadership Programme in the United States. Widely recognised for educating leaders in government, business, and civil society worldwide,Yale University launched the programme in 2007,in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the India-US Forum of Parliamentarians.

Tewari said: “This is quite an important programme. Those who participate in it gather valuable experience and knowledge. It has been appreciated worldwide and a number of parliamentarians have benefited from it.”

According to Yale President,Richard C Levin, the programme underscores Yale’s long standing commitment to educating students for service and leadership. “We have now gone a step further to include emerging and mid-career leaders. The programme will provide parliamentarians with opportunities to think critically about the challenges of leadership and to explore freely, away from the legislative arena, the issues facing India.” said Levin.

Yale has a long and distinguished record of educating government leaders. Graduates of Yale have included five American presidents, more than five hundred members of the United States Congress, more than 60 US Cabinet secretaries,20 Supreme Court Justices of the US,and former heads of state of Germany,Korea, and Mexico.
