A nine-inch pipeline burst on Monday morning at RC Marg Junction near Chembur police station,hitting water supply to areas such as HPCL and BPCL refineries,and Sindhi Colony,said an engineer of the Hydraulic Engineering Department.
An official of the Hydraulic Engineering Department said the pipe was damaged during monorail work. He said MMRDA is responsible for the burst.
In another incident,a pipeline supplying non-potable water from Powai lake to Aarey Dairy,Goregaon (east) burst on Monday. The water was used by the Aarey Dairy for non-potable purposes,said a BMC engineer.
Meanwhile,the official of the the Hydraulic Engineering Department said six water pipeline leakages were detected across the city on Monday.
In the morning,three pipelines at Andheri west,Tilak Nagar Kurla and Vile Parle were found leaking. In the afternoon,two more pipe leakages were reported in Jogeshwari and near Cama Hospital and another near Andheri east in the evening,added the official.
