4 of family run over by school bus

Four Members of a family were run over by a private school bus early Saturday morning while they were sleeping under a bridge on Senapati Marg in Kamgar Nagar. The police have arrested the cleaner and a driver of the bus.

Dadar police said the four persons—Bahagabai Pawar (48),daughter Geeta (15),one-and-a-half-year-old son Deepak and her niece Lata Kale (8)—died on the spot. “They were run over by the rear wheels of the bus. Bahagabai’s husband Dattu Pawar (55) suffered injuries,” Senior Police Inspector Ashok Unde said.

“We arrested cleaner of the bus Rakeshkumar Shah (19) and driver Saleem,” said Unde.

Another driver of the bus,Ahmad Shaikh,is absconding. Unde said the family often had arguments with the accused over the place where they park the bus. “The bus is usually parked beneath the bridge where the family resided. They had a fight even on Friday. When the bus was being taken out,the cleaner lost control and it resulted in the tragedy.”

The bodies have been sent for autopsy.
