Sunidhi Chauhan will play Sita in the animated adaption of Uncle Pais Sons of Ram Going a step further to immortalise the iconic works of Anant Pai,the legendary artists publishing house ACK Media announced a 2D animation film,Sons of Ram,at the recently-concluded Comic Con Express in Mumbai. The film is an adaptation of Uncle Pais comic book by the same title. Written and directed by artist Kushal Ruia, the creative head at ACK Media, the film will narrate the story of Luv and Kush, the sons of Ram and Sita, from the epic Ramayana. This project, says Ruia,is an extension of their ongoing efforts to take the stories rooted in Indian culture to the people. The animation feature Tripura and tele-animation series Amar Chitra Katha, both based on Late Uncle Pais works, are already on air on Cartoon Network. We hope to take this tradition forward through newer mediums especially since animation aids the portrayal of larger-than-life characters from mythology, he said. The film is a musical and therefore, renowned singer Sunidhi Chauhan has been signed on to play Sita. The cast also includes various theatre actors, such as Aditya Kapadia, who will play the part of Luv. Since it is an epic, the cast comprises 15 major characters, including many young children, Ruia added. The film, scheduled to release next year,is an international collaboration with a Malaysian animation studio, but the film uses 2D hand-drawn animation, typical of Pais own style. The traditional look has an appeal that no other technique offers. Most of the pre-production work, like design, story, voices, and art direction, was done in-house at ACK Animation,Mumbai. But majority of the production and post-production work was done in Malaysia, Ruia adds.
