Aakansha and Vedant shimmer in the pool

State's swimming stars Aakansha Vora and Vedant Rao continued to rule the waters and ended up with a huge medal tally in the 38th Junior National Aquatic Championship held at Bhopal recently.

State’s swimming stars Aakansha Vora and Vedant Rao continued to rule the waters and ended up with a huge medal tally in the 38th Junior National Aquatic Championship held at Bhopal recently.

Vora finished with eight gold medals,apart from setting one national record and won the championship in the girls’ group. Rao,meanwhile,picked up three gold medals along with a silver and a bronze to win the boys’ championship.

Other state swimmers,Avantika Chavan,Moniq Gandhi,Kanchi Desai,Ananya Panigrahi,Gouri Desai,Jason Smith,Shinjini Sahay and Viraj Prabhu also made Maharashtra proud by picking up a plethora of medals respectively.

Maharashtra’s Medal winners: 1. Aakansha Vora: 8 gold,1 national record; 2. Vedant Rao: 3 gold,1 silver,1 bronze medal; 3. Avantika Chavan: 5 gold,2 silver,1 bronze; 4. Moniq Gandhi: 4 gold,3 silver ,1 bronze; 5. Kanchi Desai: 4 gold,2 silver; 6. Ananya Panigrahi: 3 gold,1 silver & 3 bronze; 7. Gouri Desai: 1 gold,1 silver & 1 bronze; 8. Jason Smith: 1 gold & 1 bronze; 9. Shinjini Sahay:3 bronze; 10. Viraj Prabhu:1 gold,1 silver & 1 bronze.
