The road show taken out by Aditya Thackeray, son of Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray,in the city two days ago has come under the scanner of the Election Commission. The police have booked Shiv Sena campaign manager Balu Deshmukh for violation of the model code of conduct.

Deshmukh was arrested on Friday on a complaint filed by chief of AMC election code of conduct division Ramdas Tak under Section 188 of the IPC. He was later released on bail.

The complaint said nearly 100 vehicles had participated in the road show while the campaign manager had sought permission for 35 vehicles, including an open jeep for Aditya. It also said the show lasted even after its allotted time of 2 pm.

The Sena has alleged a political conspiracy. “We had followed the EC guidelines. Only 35 Sena vehicles, mostly motorcycles, participated in the road show. We will answer the matter in the court,” Sena district chief Ambadas Danve said.
