Almost a month after he was allegedly assaulted by 15 men,Lilavati Hospitals managing trustee Niket Mehta Wednesday said an institution was indirectly involved in the incident and police are not taking action despite being provided with the evidence.
The attack was not the work of one individual, but an institution,Niket said in a press conference Wednesday.
This is clearly evident that around 15 goons entered the hospital premises without being challenged by the security personnel and came to my cabin despite the fact that not many people knew I was present there. The hospital premises has 80 security guards and 20 in-house security personnel with 130 CCTV cameras. Despite this,I was assaulted by the people who came and went unchallenged by anyone, Niket said.
Niket also claimed that the CCTV footage of the hospital premises clearly showed the 15 persons being ushered in by the security guards before the assault and being escorted out safely after the attack. I have named the members of the sub-committee Chetan Mehta,Prabodh Niket and Rashmi Mehta in the FIR as being responsible and have also shown them the CCTV footage of the incident but the Bandra police has not taken any action against them yet. Moreover, the security personnel who had aided the attackers are still working at the hospital and no action has been taken against them yet, he alleged.
Niket claimed that the assault was a retaliation to he terminating Prabodh Mehtas services as the trustee.
Police officials remained unavailable for comment.
When contacted,Chetan Mehta refuted the allegation of his involvement in the assault and claimed that Niket is not the managing trustee of the trust. In a statement later,Chetan said,The allegation that Chetan,Prabodh and Rashmi Mehta are conspiring or have conspired to murder Niket Mehta is false and baseless. Police are investigating the same. I had filed an application for anticipatory bail. The session court passed an order on July 28 in my favour. The order refers to a report filed by the police authorities that they have no evidence against me.
