Ajit on Thursday held a meeting with political leaders and elected representatives from Beed to discuss various issues as well as stalled projects in the district. (Express file photo) A day prior to Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar’s third public rally in western Maharashtra’s Kolhapur in his bid to rebuild the party, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s group attempted to play safe saying it will not be attacking anyone but will talk only about development.
“We will be holding a rally in Beed on Sunday. However, the rally will not see criticism on anyone. We will only talk about developmental works to be undertaken in Beed district,” said Agriculture Minister Dhananjay Munde. Munde is known to be one of closest aides of rebel NCP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Beed is the home district of Munde and he will be the organiser of the public rally planned on Sunday.

The Ajit group of the NCP will be holding the rally in Beed, ten days after NCP chief Sharad Pawar’s public rally there. Earlier, the rally was seen as the reply of Ajit Pawar group to Sharad Pawar. During Sharad Pawar’s rally, he had refrained from attacking Ajit and his supporters who have chosen to join hands with the BJP on July 2 by taking a different position from the party’s official stand of not aligning with the BJP. Pawar has clarified that he will not join hands with the BJP and rebuild the party by touring the state. In a bid to rebuild his party, Pawar has been holding the public rallies of which first was in Yeola in Nasik district and second in Beed. The third will be in Kolhapur on August 25.
The NCP on Wednesday released a teaser of Pawar’s rally in Kolhapur. “We have shown our mettle and it will shut the mouth of who’s who because Kolhapur’s wrestling field is going to see the entry of Sharad Pawar,” said the tagline of the teaser released by the party.
