Attempt to murder case: Kamini gets interim relief till June

A day after Mumbai police registered a case of attempt to murder against Kamini Shewale, wife of Shiv Sena candidate Rahul Shewale, who is contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Mumbai South Central constituency, she has approached a sessions court seeking anticipatory bail.

“Kamini has filed an anticipatory bail application and the court has granted her interim protection from arrest till June. The matter will now be heard in June once the court resumes after the summer vacations,” said Chief public prosecutor Kalpana Chavan.

A police constable had been injured during a clash between Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and Shiv Sena workers after both parties alleged that cash was being distributed to voters in suburban Trombay. At least 18 Shiv Sena workers including Kamini, were booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Trombay police station.

According to police, constable Vikas Thorbole was patrolling the area when he received information that a heated argument erupted between the Sena and MNS workers. Sena workers alleged that MNS was distributing cash in a vehicle.

The MNS workers also made similar allegations against the Sena, police said.
