If the police say that no builders were involved, I am waiting to see how they’ve investigated this angle in the chargesheet. said Zeeshan Siddique.A day after Mumbai police filed a chargesheet in the murder case of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui, where they dismissed any links to disputes over Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) projects, his son and former MLA from Bandra East Zeeshan Siddiqui, while speaking to DEVENDRA PANDEY, raises doubts about the police’s line of investigation.
Mumbai Police has filed the chargesheet in your father’s murder case. How do you take this?
I learned that the chargesheet has been filed, and it’s quite lengthy. However, I am yet to go through it in detail with my lawyers. While I haven’t received the official chargesheet yet, the reports I’ve seen in the media indicate that the police have completely ruled out any involvement of the builder lobby or the SRA angle. My family and I strongly disagree with this.
If they claim that Anmol Bishnoi is the sole perpetrator, I have a simple question: Has Anmol Bishnoi told the police that no builder hired him to kill my father? This entire situation is deeply concerning, not just for our family, but for the law and order situation in Mumbai and Maharashtra. The police have pointed the finger at Bishnoi, and that raises more questions.
Do you still believe that the builder lobby is behind your father’s death?
If the police say that no builders were involved, I am waiting to see how they’ve investigated this angle in the chargesheet. My father and I have always been advocating for the poor, and I believe he lost his life fighting for them. If the narrative has shifted away from this, it’s unfortunate. What happens if tomorrow another family faces the same fate and the blame is placed on someone else like Anmol Bishnoi?
The police chargesheet claims your father was targeted because of his proximity to Salman Khan. What’s your take on this?
That claim is absolutely baseless. From the very beginning, it seems like a narrative was being set, and the chargesheet reflects that. I believe all angles should be explored thoroughly, and it’s clear that not all have been. Has Anmol Bishnoi ever told you that he killed my father for any specific reason? It’s been over three months since the incident, and yet assumptions are being made without connecting the dots.
What are your next steps? Will you continue your pursuit for truth?
Yes, absolutely. I will meet with the Hon’ble Chief Minister, the Home Minister, and the Mumbai Police Commissioner. Devendra Fadnavis has been a long-time friend of my father, and I’m confident that the judicial system will ensure justice. My family is determined to ensure that all angles are thoroughly investigated and that no assumptions are made. The person who orchestrated this heinous crime must be held accountable, and I believe justice will eventually prevail. It might take time, but I am confident the truth will come to light.
