BMC gardener killed,assailant on the run

A BMC gardener (60) died after a man punched him in the chest when he tried to stop the latter from ransacking a BMC-run garden’s security cabin in Bhandup on Friday.

A BMC gardener (60) died after a man punched him in the chest when he tried to stop the latter from ransacking a BMC-run garden’s security cabin in Bhandup (West) on Friday. The police are on the lookout for the assailant.

Kishan Sakharam Shendge,a resident of Bhandup (West),was working at Sharad Garden near Sharad Industrial Estate located on the Lake Road in Bhandup (West).

According to the Bhandup police,the incident took place around 2.15 pm on Friday when the accused identified as Bala entered the garden. Shendge and the complainant Ramdas Sajekar (48),who is employed as a security guard at the garden,were working when the accused started kicking on the door of the guard’s cabin.

He then barged into the office and started throwing chairs. Shendge and Sajekar tried to calm him down,but he continued to create a ruckus. The two men were pulling the accused out of the garden when he punched Shendge in the chest.

“The impact of the blow was so massive that Shendge collapsed on the ground. While Bala fled from the spot,Sajekar rushed him to the nearby Romin Nursing Home,where he was declared dead on arrival. We have booked Bala for murder and are trying to trace him,” said V Shinde from the Bhandup police station.
