He also accused the Congress of using the CBI to rein in the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Samajwadi Party (SP).

Inaugurating a two-day workshop for legislators on Saturday at Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini,the Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha said,“They (the Congress) got the benefit of the image of a clean PM during the last elections,but now the PM himself is at the centre of a controversy… The CAG report is another big explosion.”

Munde claimed that the UPA government was unstable and alleged that the Congress was using the CBI to armtwist the BSP and SP into submission. He said the DMK and NCP were nursing a feeling of being persecuted by the Congress,while former aides like Lalu Prasad Yadav were keeping a safe distance.

He said the Left parties,which were bitter critics of the BJP in the past,had become bitter critics of the Congress now. “It is not merely the distrust among allies. The people are also disappointed with the government for mishandling things.even the agitations by Ramdev Baba and Anna Hazare. The government has lost its credibility.”

Referring to the situation in Maharashtra,he slammed Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar (NCP) for being arrogant and claimed that the rift between the Congress and the NCP was increasing.

“The Congress does not have a face (in the state),while all is not well within the NCP,” he said,“In the past,it was a picture of ‘politics of addition’ with Sharad Pawar’s all-encompassing stand,R R Patil’s image and (Chhagan) Bhujbal’s supporters.but after Ajitdada became the deputy chief minister,the picture has changed. It has been proved in the past that people don’t like an arrogant ruler.”

He asked the BJP legislators to take advantage of the political situation.

He claimed that the rift between the Congress and the NCP was widening and the BJP had proved that it was a capable Opposition party.

The BJP leader pointed out that the Opposition parties were united in the Maharashtra legislature and with RPI leader Ramdas Athawale joining hands with the Sena-BJP,the strength of the Opposition would increase.
