Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday directed the state’s energy department to adopt time-bound planning for the swift execution of infrastructure and green energy projects, stating that strengthening the power sector is a key to ensure affordable and reliable electricity for citizens.

Fadnavis chaired a review meeting of the energy department at the Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai. The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) Abha Shukla, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) O P Gupta, and heads of key power utilities such as MSEDCL, MahaTransco, and MahaGenco.

Highlighting the importance of flagship schemes, the Chief Minister urged the completion of the Chief Minister’s Solar Agricultural Feeder Scheme 2.0 by December 2025. He further directed Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MahaUrja) to expedite surveys under the PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana, particularly for electrifying all government buildings through solar energy.

Fadnavis also called for a joint initiative by MahaUrja and MSEDCL to develop model solar villages. He asked for the adoption of Gati Shakti-like coordination mechanisms to fast-track energy projects, including generation, transmission, and distribution.
