Govt likely to hand over probe into Annabhau Sathe corp to ACB

The ‘scam’ worth Rs 350 crore includes alleged fraud in loan disbursements taken from district cooperative banks.

The state government is likely to hand over the investigation into alleged financial irregularities in Annabhau Sathe Development Corporation to the ACB. At present, the matter is being probed by the CID. The ‘scam’ worth Rs 350 crore includes alleged fraud in loan disbursements taken from district cooperative banks and national banks in the name of serving needy and backward sections. Sources in the government indicated that Minister of Social Justice Dilip Kamble has already discussed the matter with the chief minister.

The corporation also faces allegations of appointing employees without following procedures. Dilip Kamble said, “At present, the functioning of the corporation has come to a standstill. The functioning within the corporation was shocking. Those who were needy never got the benefits.”

NCP (MLA) Ramesh Kadam was the chairman of the corporation when the alleged irregularities took place. The minister said that all those who misused power would be probed. A senior NCP functionary said, “Our party has nothing to do with the financial fraud.” Earlier, Kadam had indicated he had no role in the alleged scam. Kamble, however, said, “The massive corruptions is not the handiwork of any single individual. There are many involved, including those holding political positions.”
