At Bhusawal station, the team found that the seal had been tampered, but did not investigate it. But they discovered the theft after the train arrived at the Kurla terminus.

“The theft must have occurred before the train reached Bhusawal (near Nashik) as they discovered the tampering of the seal there,” said ACP Bapu Thombre,GRP. “The team would be going to Guwahati.” The Army and Railway Protection Force (RPF) are separately investigating the case.

Railway officials said the incident could have been averted,if the escort party had been vigilant.
