The Bombay High Court,hearing a plea by two students of mass media who were barred from appearing in exams,on Thursday directed Mumbai Universitys management council decide on the matter. The court also allowed the students,Raj Pandit and Jay Bhanushali,to appear for the exam,which begins Friday.
Pundit and Bhanushali are third year students of Bachelors of Mass Media at Usha Pravin Gandhi College,Vile Parle. They had moved court after the college batrred them from sitting for the exams,citing lack of attendance.
Pandit,who is also musician and Bhanushali,a music video director,allege that the college principal knew they were artists and would not have been able to attend classes regularly because they were working.
The principal told us that if you are an artist,that does not benefit the college, said Bhanushali.
Despite repeated attempts,principal of the college Geetha Mohan was unavailable for comment.
