The Maharashtra government on Friday announced its plans of setting up “Mumbai Next: MMR Transformation”. It would be an entity which would bring together various stakeholders together to chart a course for the transformation of Mumbai into a Financial, Commercial and Entertainment Hub. The challenges faced by infrastructure projects in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and the steps that are required to ensure their quicker implementation will be discussed.

There have been various reports that have been commissioned on Mumbai, some of which peg the cities income generation potential at around USD 50 billion. The Chief Minster claimed that he was committed to ensuring swifter implementation of infrastructure projects in the MMR region. “I have already set up a cell in my office which monitors critical infrastructure projects,” Fadnavis added.

The CM claimed that holding of the conclave was important as it was necessary to discuss the impediments  that infrastructure projects in the region were facing and what could be the possible ways of overcoming them. He further added that creation of infrastructure helped in fueling growth of regions. “We created one BKC and it fueled tremendous growth in the region.
