The Delhi-based fusion band Mrigya is ready to launch its second album in August. While the bands first album Mrigya 2010,that released last year, was a fusion between Indian classical and rock music interspersed with jazz, this one promises to have more Latin and Afro influences. Some of the tracks were composed many years ago,but we stopped performing them for various reasons, says Indraneel Hariharan, the bands bass guitarist. The other members
include Sharat Srivastava on the violin,Gyan Singh on Indian percussion,
Rajat Kakkar on drums and Sachin Kapoor on the lead guitar.
With a slew of influences,we will sound more evolved but the trademark Mrigya sound will be
retained, says Srivastava. The compositions range from Saade Saat, that has an interesting rhythm pattern,to Caravan, based on Raag Kirwani, which was composed a decade back. We have added more rhythm and music to this one,to make it more interesting, says Hariharan.
