Congress state in-charge Ramesh Chennithala, who was in Mumbai to attend the meeting of the Congress state selection board, said the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will contest the Lok Sabha elections together and the seat allocation discussion within the MVA alliance partners were in the final stage. "The seat allocation discussion has reached the final stage. MVA will have a meeting on 27th and 28th February and a final decision on the seat sharing will be taken," Chennithala said. He added there were no differences in the alliance over seat adjustments for the Lok Sabha elections. Chennithala was talking to reporters after chairing a meeting of the state Congress election committee at the party headquarters Tilak Bhavan. Congress state president Nana Patole said, "With the elections approaching, the opposition parties are being attacked through government agencies. But no action is taken against any corrupt leader of BJP." Patole said that among the 303 MPs of the BJP, 165 were from the opposition and 67 from the Congress, who were accused of corruption by the BJP. "Prime Minister Modi mentioned the Adarsh scam in the Parliament and then took Ashok Chavan into the BJP and made him a Rajya Sabha MP. BJP has given security cover to corrupt people," Patole said. After the meeting Patole said the MVA will win 42 seats in the LS polls. "The State Congress is prepared for the Lok Sabha elections and the issues of seat allocation with allies, the organisation's preparation and issues of campaigning were discussed in the meeting of the State Election Board. Shiv Sena, NCP (SP), Samajwadi Party, Shekap, CPI-M, Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi are preparing to contest the election together," Patole said. He added it will be a straight fight between BJP and MVA, with the latter winning 42 Lok Sabha seats. Patole said all issues were discussed for nearly two and a half hours and parties with organisational strength in constituencies will have the candidate of that party. He said the allotment of seats will be based on merit and that there will be no differences among the parties. “There are indications of a change of power in the country. There is a lot of anger among the people against the Narendra Modi government of the BJP, which is anti-farmer and has failed to control inflation and unemployment. People's trust in Congress party has increased. The MVA is strong and Maharashtra itself will lay the foundation for the BJP's defeat at the Centre." The meeting of the state selection board of the Congress was presided over by Patole with Chennithala being present.
