One dies,another injured crossing railway tracks

Local train services on the Western route were disrupted after a 28-year-old woman died on the tracks at Khar station on Tuesday.

Ashok Surve Gandh,senior police inspector of Bandra station,said,“The body has not been identified yet. It was cut into two. She was wearing a green sari and had dental braces.”

In another incident,a 32-year-old man identified as Babu Khan was injured while crossing tracks between Mumbai Central and Mahalaxmi stations.

WR chief PRO Shyam Sunder Gupta called the incidents unfortunate and said,“Despite our continuous efforts,accidents due to trespassing have not stopped. In comparison to the last year,such cases have reduced by 20 percent. In 2007,there were 544 cases of line crossing while in 2008,421 cases were reported which further reduced to 382 in 2009.”
