The Dongri police arrested a 34-year-old man on Thursday in connection with the murder of a footpath dweller whose body was found in the area a day earlier. Meanwhile,the body of an unidentified man was found in a parking lot near Haj House on Thursday.
Senior inspector V B Mukne of Dongri police said Kishor Rai bludgeoned the footpath dweller,Pappu,to death with a stone after an argument over a packet of drugs. Both Rai and Pappu used to take drugs. Rai told us that while he was asleep on Wednesday,Pappu stole a packet of drugs from his pocket. Next morning,when Rai confronted Pappu,he denied having taken it, said Mukne. The two then got into an argument and Rai allegedly assaulted Pappu.
Senior inspector Padmakar Juikar of MRA Marg police said a case of murder had been registered in the case of the unidentified body found on Thursday.
