Season of Music
Returning for Season 11 this month,the popular Symphony Orchestra of India (SOI) promises to be as entertaining as ever. After his debut with the orchestra in February 2010,conductor Evgeny Bushkov is back this season by popular demand. Also conducting will be Tamas Vasary,who was in Mumbai early this year to do a recital as part of the Liszt 200th birth anniversary celebrations. This,however,is his first performance for the SOI. Part of the programme is Beethovens fourth piano concerto,the solo which will be played by Stephen Kovacevich. Other pieces include the Bizet Larlesienne suite,Tchaikovskys Nutcracker suite,Prokofievs Romeo and Juliet,Dvoraks Seventh Symphony and Tchaikovskys Romeo and Juliet overture. Celebrating Tagore
To mark Rabindranath Tagores 150th birth anniversary,the National Gallery of Modern Art,Fort,presents Shesh Lekha: The Last Poems of Rabindranath Tagore. The exhibition,on September 11-25,is a collaboration between artist Paresh Maity,who has contributed a series of paintings inspired by Tagore,and writer Pritish Nandy,who has translated the works. The preview for the show is this evening at 6 pm.
