Vijay Palande, the main accused in the Arun Tikku and Karan Kakad murders, and all his accomplices will soon be booked for allegedly using passports acquired through fraudulent means. The Mumbai Police Crime Branch sources revealed that the accused would be booked only after the test identification parade (TIP).
Palande is currently in judicial custody. He was arrested for his alleged role in the Tikku and Kakad murders. The police also arrested his alleged accomplices Dhananjay Shinde,Manoj Gajkosh and Simran Sood. All four will be booked under the Passport Act,sources said.
We had earlier learnt that there was something wrong with their passports. Inquiries showed they had acquired them through fraudulent means. We were in the process of booking them under the Passport Act,but decided to wait until their TIP, said a Crime Branch officer.
The officer said people who had seen Palande and his accomplices with Kakad when he went missing are likely to be called to identify them. People who have seen him during the course of crime, like the persons who may have seen him with Kakad, and those who may have seen him while they were disposing of the body will be called to identify him, said the officer.
According to the Crime Branch, the passport held by Palande is under his real name and was issued from Delhi in 2008. It was also allegedly obtained through fraudulent means by providing incorrect information. The address provided by Palande is in an area called Krishna Nagar in Delhi.
The Crime Branch sources had revealed that Sood had also acquired her passport from Delhi and were probing the possibility if both of them had approached the same agent.
