Papa had only a lathi,arm all cops: Omble daughter

Vandana Patane,the elder daughter of assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Tukaram Omble,demanded today that all police personnel be provided firearms,saying her father might have survived had he been armed during his encounter with Ajmal Kasab.

Omble was shot dead while capturing Kasab alive along with personnel of the D B Marg Police station at Girgaon Chowpatty. He had been armed only with a lathi,his daughter said on the sidelines of the inauguration of a photo exhibition at the state BJP office. “If Papa had a weapon at that time,perhaps he could have saved his life,” she said. She also demanded that Kasab be sentenced to death as soon as possible.
