Sanjay Chandekar after filing the complaint.
Sanjay Chandekar, the 50-year-old Radio FTII station manager who has registered a complaint with the police accusing students of criminal intimidation and misconduct, himself has a chequered professional record.
Documents accessed by The Indian Express show Chandekar was subject of an internal inquiry after three women staffers working under him with Radio FTII complained in November 2012 that he was “mentally harassing” them and that he “ordered” them to snoop on other FTII staffers using institute gadgets.
The complainants maintain that although an inquiry committee was set up after they submitted complaints and reminders to the institute director, registrar and chairperson of women’s cell, there was no further progress. Despite repeated attempts, Chandekar could not be contacted for a comment.

According to FTII officials, he was reporting to work since Tuesday. Asked about the present status of the case, D J Narain, who was the director at the time the complaint was registered, said, “I cannot comment about the case.”
“I don’t know the specifics … and I don’t have the time to look into the case. I will have to look it up and hence I cannot comment about it,” said Prashant Pathrabe, acting director, FTII.
