A Special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court on Tuesday rejected Sadhvi Pragnya Singh Thakur’s bail application filed on the grounds that she has been falsely implicated in the Malegaon 2008 serial blasts case. Sadhvi, who has been behind bars since 2008,had filed at least four bail applications in the past, which were rejected.

“We claimed before the court that Sadhvi had no role to play in the blast. She has been wrongly implicated. Although a bike used for blast belonged to her,she had sold it a few years ago,” said her lawyer Rameshwar Gite. Special MCOCA Judge Y D Shinde rejected the bail application. A detailed order is awaited.

Sadhvi has been booked under several sections of MCOCA and the Indian Penal Code for conspiracy and participating in unlawful activities. The ATS had arrested 11 persons, including Thakur and Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Purohit for allegedly carrying out blasts at Malegaon on September 29,2008 that killed six people and injured several others. Thakur was arrested from Surat on October 23,2008.
