“Of the 1,319 sanctioned posts for non-teaching staff, 265 are lying vacant,” said M A Khan, university registrar, implying a university-wide staff crunch.

The recruitment for permanent positions has been at a standstill ever since the state government put a stay on the process. The last recruitment had happened in 2013.

“Moreover, the Maharashtra Public Universities Bill, too, has not been passed yet. Owing

to the delay, decision on posts such as senate and council members are pending,” said Khan.

“We are waiting for the bill to be passed. We will then start advertising for the vacancies soon,” said Khan.
