In an open challenge to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Union Minister of Wwomen and Child Development Smriti Irani on Monday dared him to come forward for a debate on ten years of UPA rule versus the Modi government.
Irani was addressing the BJP’s Namo Yuva Maha Sammelan at Nagpur. The youth conclave was part of the BJP’s campaign strategy to make inroads with members of the next generation ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
“I call you to come forward for a debate. Let Rahul Gandhi choose the
Highlighting the achievements of the Modi government in the last ten years, Irani said, “The BJP in its poll manifesto had made three major promises — abrogation of article 370, Ram temple and women’s reservation. All these have been fulfilled. What Modi says he does.
Therefore, we say Modi hain toh mumkin hain. It is Modi’s Guarantee,” she said.
Union Minister for Roads, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari emphasised on rapid development under Modi’s leadership. “From smart cities we have moved to smart villages. The concrete roads across urban and rural areas is a reality.”
Exuding confidence of the NDA crossing 400 plus seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, Gadkari said, “Idia is set to become a superpower. The overall development in core sectors has helped generate employment and boost economy.”
Citing the example of MIHAN in Nagpur he said, “The opposition parties had dismissed it as a failed project. But it has not only brought in huge investments, but also given employment to 68,000 youths.” “The economic growth of India overriding the global slowdown has surprised world leaders. Under Modi’s leadership, the Indian economy has not only improved but registered as a fifth rank globally,” Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said.
“India is poised to become the third largest economy in the world and the credit for this goes to the leadership of Modi,” he said. “When the economy thrives, it brings overall growth. It brings employment and infrastructure. It opens doors for youths to fulfill their long cherished aspirations and dreams,” Fadnavis said.
The youth conclave saw party leaders focusing on India’s progress under “Modi’s Guarantee”. One after another, speakers directed their attack towards the Congress, holding the party responsible for its inability to address issues related to the poor, farmers, youth and women over the duration of its 70-year rule.
Popular schemes that were bright up during the event were free food to 80 crore people, toilets in rural areas and Rs 6,000 to individual farmers under the PM Kisan Sanman Yojna and PM Awas Yojna.
BJP Yuva Morcha president Tejasvi Surya said, “Modi gave stability to the country which led to accomplishment of major promises like Ram temple and article 370. The role of youths is significant. It is their dedication and hard work which has led to the BJPs grand electoral success.”
“The Modi government has inculcated new confidence among youths. It has changed the language they speak. From Mumbai, Bengaluru, Nagpur, Hyderabad or Delhi, the youths talk about startups and Unicorns.” Surya said.
He urged the youth to visit villages and work at the booth level to reach out to new voters and explain to them the reforms undertaken by the Modi government.
